I noticed the recent release of cairo-1.17.4, but note that it is in the 
https://cairographics.org/snapshots/ directory which has a header that says:

These are snapshots of the unstable, in-progress cairo development.

There is no file https://cairographics.org/releases/ChangeLog.1.17.4, 
although https://cairographics.org/news/cairo-1.17.4/ seems to have it.

 From what I can tell, the latest *stable* version of cairo is version 
1.60.0, although most distros are using a git snapshot.

cairo-1.16.0	2018-10-19
cairo-1.17.2    2019-02-01
cairo-1.17.4    2020-11-28

My question is whether there are any plans to release a new stable 
version of cairo or is version 1.17.4 the new stable?
