Bug ID: 327991
Summary: Album Artist tag not being read, Artist used instead,
possibly ID3v2.4 failure?
Classification: Unclassified
Product: amarok
Version: 2.8.0
Platform: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Collection Browser
Assignee: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
Reporter: cfcohen@verizon.net
I have MP3s with ID3v2.4.0 UTF-8 format tags. When the track is loaded into
kid3 the album artist is listed as "U2", and the artist is listed as "U2 & B.B.
King" (ID3v2.4 tags). The artist tag in the ID3v1.1 section is "U2 & B.B.
King". In Amarok, in the collection browser, when sorted by "Album Artist",
"U2 & BB.King" is used. Right clicking and selecting "Edit Track Details"
shows both "Artist" and "Album Artist" as "U2 & B.B. King".
So either Amarok isn't reading my ID3v2.4.0 tags, or it's getting confused
about the album artist for some reason? There appear to have been a lot of
changes to album artist with respect to "Various Artists" recently, so I sortof
suspect the latter.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make MP3s with tags as described.
2. Observe wrong behavior.
In my example, the tags were set automatically using Picard, from the
Musicbrainz database for track 12 of U2's "Rattle and Hum" album.
Actual Results:
Album artist tag not read/used.
Expected Results:
Album artist tag read/used.
