Bug ID: 327793
Summary: Runaway memory usage (20+MB/s) on SSL error from
Librivox.org
Classification: Unclassified
Product: amarok
Version: 2.8.0
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: Internet Services
Assignee: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
Reporter: john5342@gmail.com

I honestly don't know where to put this bug since i don't know where the cause
lies and i am not sure how to trigger it manually. I am hoping somebody can
guide me to provide more information.
When opening Amarok today there was an SSL error connecting to Librivox.org.
Sadly i don't know the exact error but it was something about the certificate
not being valid for the stated purpose. After clicking Cancel however, Amarok's
memory usage went up rapidly. I first discovered it approximately 40 mins later
when the system started freezing. When i finally got ksysguard open Amarok was
at nearly 4GB and most processes were in a disk sleep from the swapping so i
had to do a hard reset.
When i reopened Amarok (minimized into the system tray) everything worked fine
and memory usage was fine. Once i opened the main windows though i got the SSL
error again and on pressing cancel i started to see the same rapid growth
(20+MB/s) again.
Unfortunately the SSL issue seems to have resolved itself again so i can't
easily reproduce. I don't know where the blame lies so i reported against
Amarok simply because i had the same SSL error (different Authority but same
problem) in Ktp when Google changed it's certificates a few months back but i
did not get any such memory usage then.
Please let me know if you need any more info or if you know how i can trigger
the problem manually under Valgrind or similar.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Amarok
2. Cancel SSL error from Librivox.org
3. Try and view memory usage before system becomes unusable.
Actual Results:
Memory usage sky rockets.
Expected Results:
Amarok continues as normal but possibly without Librivox.org support.
