Summary: Disable search-as-you-type to speed up searching large
                    collections
           Product: amarok
           Version: 2.3.0
          Platform: Debian unstable
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Collection Browser
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
        ReportedBy: kdebugs@nebuk.de

Version: 2.3.0 (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

When searching a large collection (100k tracks, 1.5tb, 250mb of mysql tables)
search-as-you-type is painfully slow up to the point where amarok seems to
crash. To make things even worse use a mysql on another host...

So, it'd be a nice thing to be able to disable this "convenience" feature of
search as you type if you really don't want it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Get a large collection :)
Use a remote MySQL host
search

Actual Results:
40-200 seconds of lag from when you start typing and the first character
appears until the whole word you typed appears. Up to 3-4 minutes (we call it
crash :P) until the result is there.

Expected Results:
Without search as you type the load of database-searches could be reduces
expotentially (one query versus 4 queries for "test") - that'd be
searchword.length times faster!
