  Hmm I'm using SuSE with glibc 2.2.4.  Kernel should be irrelevant here.  I'm 
using gcc 2.95.3 also.

  The only thing I can suggest is that maybe Qt 3.0.4 has a bug that triggers 
this.  I don't have that installed at the moment so I can't test yet.  I'll 
update my machine today though.
