I'd consider it a feature/config option request rather than a bug.

I wonder if an ad-hoc filter and the "set identity to", "set reply-to 
to" or "rewrite header" actions could be used to force the desired 
behavior.

Of course maybe the precedence of the two conflicting features should 
be swapped but that could have subtle undesirable effects.
