@ David: this commit was done before I found the error in the caching, the
statement in the commit message is not applicable anymore. But imo the change
is still approriate and I tested it as much as possible.

@Brandon: Can you share your project or at least the callgrind log files
showing the bottleneck? Esp. a comparison would be nice (before <-> after).

Furthermore, I'd appreciate it, if you could put your patch on
http://reviewboard.kde.org/ , I have a few comments on it and there I could
comment directly on the changes.
