Hello, I am running a RED HAT 5.1 system with Xwindows installed and =
configured. I got Window Maker and Blackbox running but I can't seem to =
get KDE's install down. Here's my problem:
I've read the KDE installation guide and I believe I've followed all =
directions.
I downloaded all the KDE files '.tar.gz' into the /usr/src/ directory.
I then proceeded with the extraction of kdesupport-1.1.2.tar.gz
'tar -xvzf kdesupport-1.1.2.tar.gz'
I then CDed to /usr/src/kdesupport-1.1.2 and ran ./configure
That executed with no visible errors. I then did make and make install.
I repeated this process with kdelibs-1.1.2.tar.gz. This executed with no =
fatal errors but I did see the word error in the output a couple times. =
Something about error in /usr/src/kdelibs-1.1.2/core. I don't know if =
this would have anything to do with it.
I then did make and make install and they both worked.
When I try the same process with kdebase-1.1.2.tar.gz, when I run =
./configure, I get the following error at the end of the output:
' in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will =
fail. Check this and use another prefix '
I CD'ed to /usr/local/kde and noticed that kdesupport created 2 new =
directories called /lib/ and /include/. In the /include/ directory are =
a lot of .h files which I know are header files. I'm not sure if these =
are the files kdebase is looking for.
Either way, I've check to make sure my KDEDIR was set using 'echo =
$KDEDIR' this returned '/usr/local/kde' I set this in /etc/profile
I'm the only and ROOT user on the system.
Any help is very much appreciated!
