Subject:    Trying to compile kless in FreeBSD (again)

When trying to running configure for  Kless I get an error about it
requiring giflib23.

I have giflib version 3 installed. How can I tell configure how to
find it?

I tried the if statement that checks for ac_cv_lib_giv and changed the
"yes" for a "no" just to see if there were other errors. It stopped when
it couldn't find jpglib. 

Is there a file which tells configure where to look for files?
