"If you type part of a name in the file-dialog line-edit autocompletion 
will highlight an entry in the icon/list view. When you now change your 
mind and select a filename from the history combobox and then press OK, 
the filedialog will return the highlighted entry instead of the entry 
from history combobox." - submitted to random-bug-reports@aseigo

fixed with a particularly annoying to find but very simple one-liner
and no, it wasn't, "so, what's your sign?"
