This failure occurs upwards of 90% of the time on two separate installs, two \
different networks.  Almost every time I try to connect to any  \
http://news.bbc.co.uk/low/english/sci/tech article (links from slashdot.org) \
konqueror refuses with an error message:

news.bbc.co.uk unknown host

Yet neither netscape, mozilla, links, or lynx have any problems connecting to this \
site or its articles on the same computers.   Running konqueror from the commandline, \
this is the output when surround trying to connect to the bbc scitech site:

The error message usually comes up immediately and without any noticeable delay.  On \
RARE occassions I actually manage to get through to the site with konqueror but it is \
intermittent and seemingly random.
