No, the disk has plenty of space. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce it either 
as the mail server connection became better again. It may have been that
I tried to close and restart email when it took too long. Perhaps some part 
(POP3 ?) of it was still running during the second attempt and it got 
confused. I will let you know if I manage to reproduce it or come up with 
more information.
