Hi,
when I drag an icon from the desktop to kicker, and then remove the 
desktop icon, the kicker icon doesn't work anymore.
just a thought:
instead of creating a link to a desktop icon, copy the icons' 
properties entirely, and save them in a directory, similar to the 
desktop directory. (like $HOME/.kde2/kicker) 
The Quickauncher would represent some kind of subdir
of $HOME/.kde2/kicker
