Version: 2.0.1
Severity: normal
Why should we disable / block this restart X keybinding?
well, the answers are:
1. "To prevent a KDE user from accidentally losing his/her work (say, an \
unsaved KWord document). Which could be very important. 2. It is rather \
ungraceful/awkward to kill X to logout. 3. Some settings doesn't get applied when \
X is killed. 4. To encourage good habit of gracefully logging out.
Both killing X logout and proper logout from Kicker, will take almost same time. So, \
its is okay to force a user to logout properly.
So what to do?
Just like Ctrl+Alt+Delete keybinding it (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace) should be disabled by \
default (I don't expect KDE to get hang!) We can have an option "Allow \
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace keybinding to kill X" in KControl's System module. By default it \
should be disabled (unchecked or does not allow to kill X from within KDE). One more \
way to solve this problem is to ask "Do you really want to Kill X?" when the user \
presses Ctrl+Alt+Backspace keystroke. Got my point?
I pray, "Let KDE does not allow its user to mess his/her work :)"
Thank you.
