Maybe it's time to remove them? I would say yes. The thing is that a language should not be identified to a particular country flag. For example, French is spoken in France, but also in Belgium, in Canada and in some countries of Africa (etc). English is also spoken widely accross the world. So, taking the French language case, to well represent French countries out there, putting a different flag for each languages, we would need a French language for each country...
