I am currently investigating about that, so I will make a complete reply
concerning that next week (since it is Friday and that I will get back
to work only on tuesday).

Related to that, I would like to know, why are there flags for
languages?

By "reset", do you mean reading from the configuration file?

I submitted a bug report for that, and it seems that the problem as been
solved, but I still have to close the bug myself (i.e. test again on the
new version). Please see bug # 5716.
