Hi guys, here's a bug for you...
PROBLEM:
Most of the stable KDE .deb packages suffer from this problem.
In debian, the qt library packages are called "libqt1g" and "libqt2". The KDE .deb \
packages are set to depend on "qt1g" and "qt2" which you provide. However, I already \
have the libqt1g and libqt2 installed, and they are depended upon by other packages \
in Debian. I can't install the KDE packages that use the qt libraries because they \
are set to depend on packages by the names qt1g and qt2, not libqt1g and libqt2. I \
can not install qt1g and qt2 in addition to libqt1g and libqt2 because they conflict \
with each otehr (they're the same thing), and I can not remove the ones I have and \
use yours because of all the other packages that depend on the qt libraries by the \
names used in Debian, "libqt1g" and "libqt2".
Note, I am running Debian Potato, and yes I am installing debs from the right place \
being ftp://ftp.us.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/latest/distribution/deb/potato/i386/
SOLUTION:
Option 1, fix the names of the qt library packages and make new debs to depend on the \
proper names.
Option 2, simply update the KDE debs to depend on qt1g _OR_ libqt1g, and qt2 _OR_ \
libqt2.
Thanks for all the great work you guys do, and for providing .deb packages! I hope \
you'll fix this minor issue quickly, it would not take long at all and would save \
many people some dependancy/conflict hassles. I've had to put KDE on hold until this \
gets fixed... I would appreciate a quick reply to this email so I know someone has \
recieved this and what your intentions are, ie. if you're going to fix it promptly or \
not...
Thanks again,
Sincerely,
Robert Cornall
