Subject: Hello says `goodbye'
Package: KDE
  I used the Edit-Applications menu item from KFM to look at and change some
of my applications that show up in my K bar. While the KFM window was open,
I looked at the K bar. It showed a partial update of the changes (I did not
hit update, or reload desktop or anything like that). The second time I
looked at the K bar the whole system locked. The mouse responded and
changed over the desktop items, but the K menu would not close, nor would it
change as I passed the mouse over it. I could not ctrl-alt-backspace,
ctrl-alt-F1 -> F12, alt-F1 -> F12, etc.  I tried every possible key
combination I could think of. I know why it didn't update the K menu (I
didn't tell it to...), but why did it lock like that? I eventually just cut
the machine off.

I am using Mandrake-Linux 6.0 with (I believe) KDE 1.1
It is the KDE that came with Mandrake-Linux 6.0.
I used a workstation install with the standard packages.
I have added Wordperfect 8.0 and StarOffice 5.1
The hardware is a Pentium 166 (no mmx) with 64mb ram, 1.6 + 1.2 gb hard
drives.
