Of course ! You were trying to edit the acroread file (which has nothing
to do with kghostview, right ?) instead of editing the kghostview file
and/or the mimetype file.
Here is how it works :

In kde-1.1.1 you had :

mimetype           |   application
----------------------------------
application/pdf    |   acroread

When installing kde-1.1.2 you installed kghostview.kdelnk, which says it can
handle application/pdf as well.

mimetype           |   application
----------------------------------
application/pdf    |   acroread
application/pdf    |   kghostview

So the problem is telling kfm how to choose between one or the other ?
The answer is in the mimetype file itself ( mimelnk/application/pdf )
You need to change the default application there.

Please try - I don't think there is any bug here. You just
have to tell kfm which app to use by default.
