Subject: Bug#1604: Desktop locks up with Alt-TAB

Package: KDE
Version: 1.1.1

When I switch to a desktop with no open windows on it and then do Alt-Tab to
switch to another window, KDE locks up. I cannot open any new windows (by
clicking the icons on the desktop), though I can open menu's from the "task
panel" itself; the buttons on the task-panel or on the menus that come off it
cannot launch windowed applications either. I cannot end the session with a
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and cannot switch to virtual consoles using Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6]
either. It seems like the keyboard is grabbed and not released and no new
windows are allowed to come up.

Workaround: After "shutting down" with the hardware Reset button a couple of
times, I got tired of it and created a link to a shutdown script on my KDE
desktop; I can click on this when lock-up happens and the system will shutdown
cleanly. I guess I can send a kill signal to KDE instead of shutting down too.

If it matters, some additional info:

- I am using the Solaris CDE look for my windows (shouldn't matter, I guess)
- I am letting Alt-Tab switch between desktops too (not turning on the check
box that restricts it to a single desktop)

Any clues?

- nanda
