i encounter the following when trying to purge kdebase 1.1.1 Debian
package from my system:

vortex:/home/gub# dpkg --purge kdebase
(Reading database ... 18360 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing kdebase ...
dpkg - warning: while removing kdebase, directory
`/usr/share/applnk/debian_menu
' not empty so not removed.
dpkg - warning: while removing kdebase, directory `/usr/share/applnk'
not empty
so not removed.
dpkg: error processing kdebase (--purge):
 subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Installed kde in the window-manager list.
Do you want to setup kdm for your system installation?
If you enter y here, /etc/kde/kdmrc will be changed to
only list available users and Windowmanagers.
Do you want to update the kdmrc? [Yn]n

second try at it produces the following results:

I have the following kde packages installed:

vortex:/home/gub# dpkg -l |grep kde
pH  kdebase         1.1.1-19990424 KDE core applications
ii  kdelibs2g       1.1.1-19990424 KDE core libraries (runtime files)
ii  kdesupport0g    1.1.1-19990424 mime, uuencode and QwSpriteField
library - r

I am running Debian 2.2 (Slink), kernel version 2.2.5, libc6 2.1.1.  The
error above is also causing problems with the ability to update system
via apt/dselect.
