When I downloaded, compiled and invoked the krecord utility, I got
an error that it could not open sound card.  I dug into the codr and 
found that the constructor for the Soundcard class (in file oss.cpp)
did not initialize the "stat" member variable.  I put an initialization to the 
value STATUS_CLOSED and the app works perfectly now!  Thought
you might be interested in knowing . . .
