this seems to be fixed (I looked at the current CVS snapshot). The
call of krdb on startup was previously done in
/usr/X11R6/bin/startkde. It is now no longer in there, but probably
called on demand from kdm or so. With our current installation krdb is 
still called unconditionally from startkde.

Still, I think the option 'Apply fonts and colors to non-KDE apps'
should be deselected by default.
