Yes, I did all that.  I can't explain it but right now the problem
seems to have disappeared (my libkdecore is still using your patch).
I *had* restarted KDE yestereday...  I even rebooted to 2.0.36 at some 
point and still had the problem...

Ahh, at least I now know the problem is not specific to my system...

Anyway, I can't reproduce the problem right now with your previous
patch applied.  I'll let you know when I test the new one.
