Subject: Bug#840: Window manager displays windows too big for the current resolution (640x480)

Package: kwm (?)
Version: KDE 1.1
I'm using KDE on a laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro 400 CDT) at 640x480
resolution. I can display larger resoutions, but the laptop only supports
them in virtual mode - via screen scrolling.
In 640x480 resolution, there are often windows displayed that are too big to
fit on the screen - often chopping off the right and bottom of the screens -
very often I don't get the buttons on the windows because they are beyond the
edge of the screen. This isn't program dependent, it seems to be a window
manager problem - I've seen it happen when I start emacs, KDE control center
apps, etc.
I would suggest that all windows created must fit on the displayable screen
within the confines of it's resolution; 640x480x256 is a standard VGA mode and
should be supported before any of the higher resolutions.
I'm running Debian 2.1 (slink), kernel version 2.0.36, XFree version 3.3.2.3,
KDE 1.1, emacs 20.
