Seemingly weird question, is the welcome page (with the KDevelop logo and the
seesion list) showing when you experience this problem?

I don't have that issue here and there is quite certainly not a lock in place
causing this ... the dialog is provided by a completely separate component, and
has no shared code with the rest of the IDE ...
