I can confirm this bug exists in current git. This is very easy to reproduce:

1. Set application launcher to "Application Menu".
2. Add favorites to the application menu (will appear as icons on the left side
of the menu).
3. Log off and back on.

Result: The favorites you added in step 2 are missing.

OS: KDE Neon 5.8.90 64-bit (Plasma Desktop 5.8.5+git20161227.1802-0, KDE
Frameworks 5.30.0, Qt 5.7.0)
Linux Kernel: 4.4.0.57-generic
