The glibc event dispatcher is, frankly, broken by design.
I don't think libc updates will ever fix it, but it's been "fixed" in newer
kinit by avoiding this clumsy thing.
It's also really only ever required when somehow dealing with gobjects in Qt
applications, ie. notably when gstreamer comes to play - the default Qt event
dispatcher is much more straight forward and deterministic.
