click what? KWin has no GUI :-P

I assume some™ plasmoid (stock one) in some (desktop? panel? extra?) window.

=> run "kcmshell5 keys", select KWin, filter for "show deskt" (or scroll to
death ;-) and ensure a shortcut (eg. "Meta+D", but it doesn't really matter) is
set.

=> Does activation by shortcut work as expected?

If so, please elaborate on the location of your "show desktop" plasmoid, your
focus model (click or hover) and whether all or only some windows (plasmashell
dialogs? keep above?) remain.
