Yes I just had this happen to me. I was using two monitors, one broke, I
unplugged it. Suddenly, I could no longer log in to KDE5. I tried deleting tons
of stuff, ~/.config/plasma*, ~/.config/kde* , but eventually I determined that
an extra file in ~/.local/share/kscreen/ was the problem. It looks to me like
this lists monitors that you have and that are plugged in. I did `rm -r
~/.local/share/kscreen` and the problem went away, KDE started!
