There'll be some override_redirect window w/ garbage content.

try "xwininfo" and click some garbage area (not the blank sections, the
window's likely shaped)
Compare the reported "Window id: 0x123" to the one of the desktop (xwininfo,
but click desktop ;-)

If it's the same, we'll have to walk the ugly path by looking for a matching
client in "xwininfo -tree -root"

If not, "xprop -id 0x123" might tell us about the source.
