I would also refer you to comment #8 from Germano: "this does not happen with
VLC phonon backend".

VLC, using the same backend, and the same equalizer, somehow manages to enable
the equalizer without restarting the song/video.

It can be done. It must be done. It will be done. So, how about we use this
bugtracker for what it is intended for eh? Which is, to track bugs and help
resolve them, it is not to obfuscate with excuses until people give up in
frustration.
