--- Comment #1 from Russ <cestlaz@gmail.com> ---
Same happens for me on Arch using the Plasma 5.2 packages and
kcm-touchpad-frameworks from the AUR.

The systray touchpad icon gives me the following error:

"Error loading QML file: file:///usr/share/plasma/
plasmoids/touchpad/contents/ui/touchpad.qml:
24:1: module "org kde qtextracomponents" is not
installed"

The kdebase-runtime pkg includes a libqtextracomponentsplugin.so
$ pacmatic -Ql kdebase-runtime | grep qtextra
kdebase-runtime /usr/lib/kde4/imports/org/kde/qtextracomponents/
kdebase-runtime
/usr/lib/kde4/imports/org/kde/qtextracomponents/libqtextracomponentsplugin.so
kdebase-runtime /usr/lib/kde4/imports/org/kde/qtextracomponents/qmldir

I use the kcm-touchpad module to disable the touchpad when a mouse is
installed, then use the systray icon to enable/disable the touchpad as needed.
