It is much more odd, to find cursor position in top right corner rather than
bottom right corner, because of:

* history of >20 years of computing done it on bottom status bar and every
experienced user expects to find it somewhere below;
* in top right corner it gets space from tab area:
** Tabs space is much more valuable than horizontal ruler space;
** When many tabs open it is very "flashy" in tab area, hard to find info about
coordinates;
* there is nothing wrong in smaller horizontal ruler. Many text editors in
history done such way and it seems more convenient. On the contrary horizontal
bar on full width looks like a waste and requires larger mouse sweeps
(typically, horizontal ruler bar takes as much as 30% of horizontal space);
