Whoa. This is quite a lot to read.

For people compiling git on your own. Try running the tests in
baloo/src/file/tests/. Specifically the bindexqueuetest.

In Baloo, the indexing is split into 2 phases - Basic and File. Basic is when
we do NOT look into the contents of the file. File is when the contents are
actually looked into. File indexing is typically done in another process
(baloo_file_extractor). It's only when the basic indexing has finished, does
the file indexing run.
