This issue is not about personal taste. You are not developing your personal
software. KDE is used by thousands of users. 

The Code of Conduct -that you mentioned- states: "Any decision you take will
affect other community members, and we expect you to take those consequences
into account when making decisions. As a contributor, (...) bear in mind how
your changes affect others."
