As for the black screen: does it also occur whn you start the compositor at
runtime (Shift+Alt+F12)?

In any case, please provide the ouput of "qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin
supportInformation" - ideally with active compositing.
If you've issues with black screen (so you cannot see what you type), just
prepend it "sleep 10;" - you'll then have few seconds to start the compositor
before the call is made. (Just wait half a minute and then suspend the
compositor again, same shortcut)
