The problem as described is no longer occurring. 

I now have a different problem, which is that I can no longer set a connection
to be IPv6 only -- when I reopen the "Edit Network Connection" dialog, the
"IPv4 is required for this connection" box has magically checked itself again,
and the interface gets an IPv4 address even though it's set to "Disabled". Do
you want me to open that as a new bug, or is that a known limitation?
