I can confirm that this bug always and consistently occurs when removing large
files from USB media (e.g 7 GB file from a 16GB stick), and it has occurred for
every KDE 4.x version I have ever used up until at least 4.9. 

There is no graphical way of actually removing the file.

My solution is to use "rm" within the inline command line to actually delete
the file. This is however no solution for novice users.

The solution to this problem would be to offer a solution in the dialog to
permanently delete the file.
