The delay problem when clicking on "Edit" looks like a problem in dbus or in
kded. Since it does not happen to anybody else (you are the only one that has
ever complained about that) I guess it may be a problem in your dbus setup.

The PIN is never saved because it is not safe to do that, if you use a
different sim card Plasma NM would send the wrong PIN to try to unlock the
modem and eventually lock the modem forever.

Which Plasma NM version do you use? I fixed a problem with the password for gsm
connection in 0.9.0. Anyway, you should use the latest version Plasma NM
(0.9.0.4).
