Means kwin didn't start / crashed.
Did you get a backtrace?

Wild guess: decoration.
In case you're using oxygen you'll probably also have to update
kde-workspace/libs/oxygen (and with it the oxygen UI style in
kde-workspace/kstyles/oxygen

Sorry, didn't think of that :-(

Alternatively you can use another deco for testing (laptop, skulpture, bespin
should all be safe - QtCurve is binary incompatible and will not be loaded -
falling back to oxygen then ...)
