            Bug ID: 297217
          Severity: normal
           Version: unspecified
          Priority: NOR
                CC: afiestas@kde.org
          Assignee: kdelibs-bugs@kde.org
Summary: picker window always opens with the left pane so
narrow that most entries are indistinguishable from
                    others
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: mrmazda@earthlink.net
          Hardware: openSUSE RPMs
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
         Component: kfileplacesview
           Product: kfile

This sprung from bug 283366 where screenshot
https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=70044 shows the inane narrowness of the
(KSnapshot) default left pane width in the default width picker window in 4.8.1
(from build service repo) on openSUSE 12.1.

Issues:
1-A minimum width is needed wider than current default
2-pane width needs to persist into next open when it's been adjusted to a
useful width
3-left pane icons do little but waste space

Bug 186253 is similar, but I see as distinguishable.
