I deleted the filters at the bottom of the filter list: 4 filters about spam
(they had been created automatically when enabling the spam filter). After that
I still had two new empty mails. It seems to be less problematic now but I
can't confirm it's due to the removal of the spam filtering because I run
thunderbird to get an offline copy of the imap mails. So maybe kmail still
looses mails but they get resynchronized  by thunderbird ... I just don't know
but I don't trust kmail anymore, so I can't go on testing -  at least not on my
production machine.
