I agree with #6. 

It is difficult to believe that anyone ever thought this calendar pop-up was in
any way acceptable, or even usable. It hurts a person's eyes just looking at
it. The weekday names are not legible, the size of the calendar does not seem
to be adjustable. There is no obvious way to make the week numbers go away.
There needs to be a way to disable the right-hand panel entirely. 

Does anyone out there have the authority to ditch this calendar pop-up, and
replace it with the old one, before 4.8 hits release?
