Curiouser and curiouser.
I switched the DVD drive with a CD-RW drive, and the latter would open by
pushing the eject button on the drive. I switched back to the DVD drive I
originally wrote about, and now it will open with the drive button.
KsCD still crashes when the drive is empty, works with a disk inserted - same
behavior with both the DVD and CD-RW drives.

Both drives work correctly in Windows XP Pro.

This is a 32-bit system.
