Summary: Feather layer (feature request for texturing)
           Product: krita
           Version: 2.4-snapshots
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: krita-bugs-null@kde.org
        ReportedBy: blondynka@gmx.at

Version: 2.4-snapshots (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

A feature would be useful which automatically feathers a layer's edges towards
the inside, as shown in the attachment.
There should be the possibility to change the width of the feathering.
A preview while changing that parameter would be a nice extra.

Of course it can be done with a soft eraser brush or feather selection, but
it's an operation I do to most of the pattern snippets I use for texturing, and
automatization would make it so much quicker.
Btw. feather selection does it towards both inside and outside, for handling
small texture snippets only inside would be better (and for layers, inside is
the only possibility anyway, because there is no color information outside)

Reproducible: Didn't try

Expected Results:
Feathering layer borders towards the inside (gradual change from no opacity to
full opacity).
Width should be adjustable by the user.
Preview would be nice.
