Not sure that I sure comment here to you about this ... but will, my machine
has 8G and a large swap and cache so I saw no reason to jack up the memory
available to the process. That turned against me increasing cpu load (dual core
AMD) and was reduced to 128MB where it sits now. I try to remember to turn off
indexing when moving files. I've been reorganizing libraries that are on NTFS
platters available to Samba. Recently while moving some PDF's, (ext4fs) after
the move the folder was placed in Trash ... no accounting for good taste I
guess ... I have also taken the NTFS platters off the indexing assignment for
the time being. I'm not sure if the acl's on the NTFS platters have a hand in
this or not. One last point in the matter, when using the "Alt+F2" kio to find
material the list can be propagated with a number of similar but none
descriptive file names ... proof of chaos right there.
