Oh and I just noticed this debug output:
amarok: BEGIN: virtual ScannerJob::~ScannerJob() 
QProcess: Destroyed while process is still running.
amarok: END__: virtual ScannerJob::~ScannerJob() [Took: 0s] 

I guess that might be the cause of the zombies?
