You can quite easily install various up-to-date versions (like the latest beta,
or even a live SVN version) in Gentoo, using the kde overlay. I remember that
kde4live, was based on OpenSuse and used to be quite up-to-date. Don't know if
it still exists, or if it has been updated to 4.6 beta1.
