@Milian: If caching works, then that change alone won't make anything
3 times faster. The change should be ok though, although I'm worried
about doing this so close before the release, I hope you've tested it
intensively.

@Brandon Ehle: Your patch seems to make a lot of sense. Can someone
with a better overview of the project architecture check, and
eventually apply it?
